Total Force
A Science Fiction Novel
by Wayne J. Lutz

Lieutenant Shawna Whitney is an Air Force officer with memories of the future. Trapped in a structured military world, Shawna's "memories" persist for over twenty years, culminating in a message from the stars. Total Force has a mainstream orientation, beginning in the year 1981 and ending in 2004, and this novel will appeal to readers outside the science fiction genre. The themes of military aviation and space-time form prominent threads.

Shawna Whitney, age 24, is an aircraft maintenance officer on her first Air Force assignment in Panama. She has been experiencing nightmares and daytime epileptic-like episodes involving an accident in Hangar Two. She is experiencing time reversal, and it takes Jay Rotella, an Air National Guard sergeant, to interpret the meaning. If Jay is right, contact with aliens lies at the end of their search.

Rewrites of Total Force have been prompted by consultation with a variety of technical reviewers, including Air Force C-130 experts and the English Department at Mt San Antonio College. The author's background is in military operations, aeronautics, physics, and systems management.

Mainstream and adventure readers as well as hard science fiction readers are the primary targeted readers. This novel creates a genre of its own, "military aviation science fiction." A guaranteed audience for this novel includes our nation's forty-three C-130 Reserve flying units.
